Joseph the Turkey is Done!

Finally, I am done with Joseph of the many colored coat! This has been so much fun exploring the new techniques I learned from working at Mimi’s Magic Garden, I have yet to encounter any problems! It’s exhilarating! I cannot tell you how much arguing I did the beginning of this year, struggling to make the paints work for me. Now, all of a sudden, I have yet to have a “bad day.”

Well, that’s not necessarily true. The days I’m unable to work when I plan to are “bad.” This week, I was supposed to go in on Tuesday and finish Joseph the turkey, but Monday night as I was checking my tote bag, I discovered something distressing! I have 7 paint cans, in addition to a jar of thinner and a couple of Tupperware containers in my bag. There’s only space enough for 8 things on the bottom of the bag, so, I set the red can on top of the others, no big deal. I must not have closed the lid very tight and in transit, the red can had tipped over and spilled out covering the entire bottom of the bag. All weekend it had been pouring out and since my room temperature fluctuates with my comings and goings, it was different degrees of wet and dry. Thankfully, my mother came to the rescue and got everything out of it so that it could all dry. Since the thinner tends to degrade the quality of plastic, we decided not to use it to clean the bottom of the tote bag, instead smoothing out the excess and leaving it to dry with a hard layer of what will hopefully be water-proof oil-based enamel paint, lol.

Even though I wasn’t able to paint when I wanted to, that hasn’t hurt me any. I finished Joseph’s leg in an hour and 30 minutes and spent the rest of my time getting started on his ladies, Faith and Grace. Now that I know how to work on two things at once(also learned at Mimi’s), and they’ll just be different variations of brown, I should finish these girls before the end of December!
