LDS

2020 Edit: While technically, I consider myself a believer in the church and its doctrine, I am not comfortable at this time calling myself a member or representative of LDS values.

2016: I am a returning member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Colloquially, we’re known as either “Mormons” or “LDS” preferably the latter since we don’t worship Mormon. I was raised in the church and baptized when I was 8. I went to seminary during high school and held a calling in the church as a teacher in the Nursery. I met my ex-husband through church and we got married in the Washington D.C. temple in the spring of 2008. Despite both of our families being fairly strong in the church, we both fell away and stopped attending in either 2009 or 2010.

During that time, I didn’t obey the commandments, pray, or keep the covenants I had made and it started to negatively affect my relationship with my husband and myself. We got a divorce in 2013 and I moved back in with my mother. After a couple years of finding myself and what I truly wanted from life, I started going back to church, September 4, 2016. Things were going poorly on both a personal and national scale and although my 2016 was particularly inspired and definitely guided by God’s hand, I knew I couldn’t deny that any longer. Also the fact that in order to keep growing and moving forward, and to have a steady foundation for things to come, I’d need Him in my life. I’ll further elaborate on this trail of events in the “Our Story So Far…” post.

I don’t want to make this blog feel like it is all about religion because I’m still learning and growing on my own personal, spiritual journey. So, although I am a member, I don’t want people to mistake me as the go-to shop for information on the church, since I might misrepresent or give false information, despite my best attempts to give correct information on doctrine. Mostly, this is a personal blog, and anything I post about the LDS church will involve my personal testimonies of its truth and a chronicling of my growth and journey. I have a lot of repentance yet to do for my time away, so, although that part will be kept private, I just want readers to be aware that I’m not perfect and I’m doing my best every day to get closer to Him.

If you feel moved by anything I say or share and you would like to know more, please visit the LDS website: https://www.mormon.org/

I think there is also a section on there where you can input your information and find a church and missionaries close by who can come and give you discussions. And all of this isn’t to say that you cannot ask me questions, so, feel free to come to me with any concerns or thoughts that you have.
