Art

All artwork posted on this blog is copyrighted to the blog author, Amanda Hall. Most, if not all, of the work posted will be related to or be for private commissions and freelance work. I am a self-taught artist with a high school education and I’ve been oil-painting since March 2016. I work locally so far, so, a lot of my commissions come by way of word of mouth. I live in Susquehanna county in PA, so, there’s a lot of rural area around here and hunting is a big pastime and hobby for a lot of people. So, a lot of the commissions I might do will be for hunters.

There is no real limit to what I can do. I have the ability to look at a bunch of photos of a subject and recreate it perfectly. That doesn’t mean that if someone wants a scene with animals and people in it that I have to find just one photo for all of it. What usually happens is I’ll use photos and pictures for several parts of it. The deer and elk murals I did in March and April, I used 5 or 6 pictures of deer and elk for each individual animal in the murals.

The paints that I use are Rust-oleum extra protective enamel, oil-based paint. You can pick them up in a can from any hardware store or Lowe’s for about $10. I use these because that’s what was given to me at the start and they’ve proven to work so well and so versatile that I’ve continued to use them. Not only that but they’re also sturdy, don’t wear and chip or fade easily since the paint is made for outdoor use.
